Support Worker – Narara

We currently have fixed term full-time position from June 2021 to February 2022 (with potential to extend) 76hours per fortnight and ongoing casual positions, vacant in one of our high support houses in Narara on the Central Coast.

We are looking for a supportive, reliable, highly motivated and energetic Support Worker to work with previous experience managing challenging behaviours to provide in-house support for clients with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). Ability to support participants to their appointments and varying activities.

These participants enjoy physical activity and you will need to be actively involved with these activities. You will be required to undertake sleepover night shifts. Have a personal car with comprehensive insurance to transport clients to various activities and appointments. You will need to be willing to provide for the participants in meal planning and food preparations along with other day-to-day activities.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in supporting people with Intellectual Disability (ID) and/or other relevant industry experience •Ability to work in Gosford area
  • Demonstrated resilience to episodes of challenging behaviour(Experience working with PWS is an advantage)
  • Willingness to work across a range of shifts including split shifts, weekends/public holidays, sleepover and active wake shifts
  • Willingness to complete personal care such as assisting in showering and toileting
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team as well as autonomously
  • Computer literate with capability in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and other related software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one before the commencement of employment
  • Current driver’s licence and a reliable insured vehicle
  • Valid NDIS Workers Screening Check or willing to obtain one before commencement of employment
  • Willingness to support participants when they are unwell including in the event that they contracted Covid-19
